Dog Obedience Shouldn't be a mystery...
True dog obedience comes down to three things working in perfect harmony: training, conditioned responses, and your relationship with your dog. Most trainers only focus on the first two, leaving you without the skills to actually connect and lead. The result? Good behavior that fades the second the trainer leaves. I want to teach you how to reinforce the behaviors you want while establishing yourself as a trusted and respected leader. That way, the results aren't just temporary—they're permanent.
My Story
Hi, I'm Rob (though most folks around Key West call me Bobby). My wife and I are lifelong dog owners, but my real training journey started 15 years ago when we rescued a Lab/Cattle Dog mix. I became obsessed with figuring out how to meet his needs and make him the perfect companion. I devoured books, studied countless trainers, and eventually combined the best of their philosophies into my own balanced approach.
Soon, I was helping friends and family get rapid results with their dogs—even when they had struck out with professional trainers in the past. That’s when it hit me: the problem wasn't that other trainers lacked skills with dogs; it's that they failed to empower the owners. I started my business to change that. My focus is entirely on Dog Owner Education. Oh, and you'll likely hear about my newly adopted Australian Cattle Dog, Cody, who keeps me sharp and serves as a constant inspiration for my clients.
My Philosophy
I believe a strong relationship with your dog changes everything. I can hand you the tools and show you the way, but stepping up to be the leader your dog needs is a commitment you have to make.

Dog training shouldn't be a mystery. Whether we're tackling loose-leash walking or building a reliable recall, I demonstrate the techniques right in front of you, explaining the "why" behind them, and then I hand over the leash. Hands-on education is the only way to get permanent results.

Finally, a huge part of your dog's well-being is learning how to comfortably navigate our human world. That requires clear, fair communication—which means encouraging good behavior and firmly discouraging the bad. To be completely upfront: I am a Balanced Trainer. I use both rewards and fair corrections to guide your dog, always prioritizing their welfare. If you are looking for a purely "force-free" approach, I won't be the right fit for you.

What to expect...
While each journey is customized based on your goals, you can expect the following:

1. Affordability
I started this to help my Key West neighbors build better lives with their dogs. Because of that, I intentionally keep my training packages as accessible as possible. All of my lessons are one-on-one and completely customized to your specific goals. Check out the options below for detailed pricing, and please reach out if you need to discuss need-based discounts.

2. A Path Based on Your Goals
We kick things off with a free in-home evaluation. This is our chance to meet, discuss your specific goals, and ensure my balanced training approach is the right fit for you. I'll demonstrate my methods right then and there. Since success depends on clear communication from the humans, this session is most effective when the whole family is present.

3. Homework!
I will show you exactly how to fix problem behaviors and get your dog listening, and you'll likely see immediate results while I'm there. But here’s the reality: I only train your dog during our sessions. Lasting success comes down to you. If you want permanent changes, you have to be willing to put in the daily work and apply these new skills to your regular routine.
Modules
Our initial offerings. Our modules are a work and progress and we're looking to add more. Please let us know if you have a suggestion or specific need not covered below.
CORE:
Core Skills are easy for the dog handler to learn and are a great starting point for most dog owners.

Loose Leash Walking
A dog pulling on the leash during a walk is probably the easiest thing to fix. We have a near 100% success rate in teaching this skill to owners and having them achieve lasting results.

Basic Obedience Skills
How to effectively teach sit, down, stay, place. Teaching your dog these basic commands effectively is only a small part of the real lesson here. The real lesson, is teaching your dog that your words matter.

Home Control
Learning how to address problematic behaviors inside the home. Using "graduated freedom" and "structured play," you will shape your dog into understanding the behaviors that are desired within the home.
ADVANCED:
Advanced Skills are more nuanced and require mastery of the above Core Skills as prerequisites.

Heel Walking
More advanced techniques to teach your dog how to walk tightly against your side in crowded places. Must have a successful loose-leash walk before you take on this module.

Addressing Reactivity
How to address barking/lunging at other dogs or people while on a walk. Requires a successful loose-leash walk and heel before you take on this module.

Off-Leash Walking
Advance in your skills, teaching your dog how to make good decisions off leash in real world environments. Note: this is the pinnacle of obedience training and is not for everyone. It requires mutually earned trust between you and your pet.
